Into the Woods

Once again, our family adventures took us to the George Washington National Forest, a real treasure in Virginia. This time we had some help from friends in suggesting a pristine campsite along a fire road near the Piney River. Each time we find a place like this, we sit around and talk about all the people with whom we'd like to be sharing this experience. So be warned - if you come to Charlottesville, we may drag you out with us to share some of the perks of living in this area.

This particular site was set apart from any other campsites and sat on a ledge that led down to a beautiful creek complete with countless waterfalls, a swimming hole, and more fun for the boys than you could imagine. The rain limited itself to a steady deluge only while we were sleeping, and we managed to stay relatively dry and warm. All in all, one of the best possible ways to spend a Saturday night.
